TET Exam 2019 – Teacher Eligibility Test (Exam Date, Notification)


TET which is a Teacher’s Eligibility Test required for securing Primary & Upper Primary Teaching Jobs is conducted by the state and central government. In almost every state, TET Exam is organized every year or twice a year after the application form filling process. To appear in this entrance exam, candidates must have the minimum qualification criteria fulfilled on or before the application dates. The basic criteria for enrolling in a TET Exam seeks 50% marks in one of the educational streams such as B.Ed/B.El.Ed, Diploma in Elementary Education or Senior Secondary (it’s equivalent) etc.

TET Eligibility Criteria 2019 for Ist & IInd Paper

Before application, it is advised to candidates to check the eligibility conditions specified by TET authority. Below are the basic requirements for a valid CTET/TET Registration.

For Paper-I (Class Ist to VIth):- 

  • Higher/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). (OR)
  • Higher/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education). (OR)
  • Higher/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). (OR)
  • Higher/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. (OR)
  • Graduation/Degree and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). (OR)
  • Graduation/Degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.,).
  • Candidates who are visually impaired shall not be eligible to write Paper I.

Note: Candidates who have completed D.T.Ed., /D.Ele.Ed., from states other than Tamilnadu, should submit evaluation certificate for such qualifications.

For Paper-II (Class VIth to VIIIth):- 

  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations. (OR)
  • Higher/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). (OR)
  • Degree/Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). (OR)
  • Graduation/Degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.). (OR)
  • Higher/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed. (OR)
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of B.Ed. (Special Education).

The pattern of Exam for TET 2019

Candidates should practice their upcoming TET Exam Questions as per the prescribed scheme. The structure & content for TET 2019 Exam is as follows:

Paper I:

  • There will be a duration of 150 minutes for Primary Teacher Exam.
  • Candidates will be asked 150 objective questions where each question will be of 01 marks.

The Validity of TET & CTET Certificate

Qualification in TET/CTET Exams can open the doors for State as well as Central Government Teaching Job opportunities. Candidates can apply for KVS, NVS, Army School Teacher (AWES), ERDO etc. after getting the CTET Eligibility Certificate.

  • CTET is valid for 07 years from the date of issuance.
  • Whereas, a State TET Certificate is valid for 05 years.
